CBIC says Preferential Origin Claims Need Not Carry Form-I

Circular No. 43/2026-Customs reiterates that CAROTAR, 2020 must operate consistently with the Rules of Origin under the applicable Trade Agreement. For India-UK CETA imports, a valid Origin Declaration is sufficient, while Form-I may be sought only where an origin-related risk check warrants further information.
