CESTAT holds DDA’s Lease Premium and Commercial Rentals Attract Service Tax

The Delhi Development Authority argued that its activities arose from statutory functions and that it acted as custodian of Government land. CESTAT rejected the claim, distinguishing compulsory statutory levies deposited into the Government treasury from consideration received for taxable services.
