The Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT), New Delhi, by its order dated 23 June 2026, allowed the appeals filed by M/s Mungad Strips & Alloy Pvt. Ltd. and M/s Jiji Industries Ltd., setting aside the Commissioner's order which had re-determined export value, altered the description of exported goods, denied DEPB benefits, demanded customs duty and imposed substantial penalties.
The Tribunal held that once export goods are assessed and permitted for export, Customs cannot revisit the assessment except through the statutory remedies specifically prescribed under the Customs Act.
