Delhi HC says Customs Interest Cannot Precede Determination of Liability

Customs sought interest dating back to May 2015, although the imported goods remained seized and adjudication concluded only in February 2023. The Court directed Customs to exclude the intervening period and recompute interest, if payable, from the determination of liability, after accounting for payments already made.
