GSTAT upholds Anti Profiteering demand

The GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT), Principal Bench, New Delhi, upheld anti-profiteering proceedings against Lifestyle International Pvt. Ltd. for failure to pass on the benefit of GST rate reduction from 28% to 18% on FMCG products effective 15 November 2017.
The Tribunal confirmed that the company had increased base prices despite the tax reduction, resulting in profiteering of ₹13.61 crore.
Since the ultimate consumers could not be identified, the Tribunal directed the amount to be deposited equally into the Central and State Consumer Welfare Funds.
