Executive Summary

In May 2025, the Hon’ble Supreme Court stayed a ₹5,712 crore GST demand issued to Paytm's gaming subsidiary, First Games, by the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI). The Court clubbed all the cases (almost around 50) together challenging the 28% GST levy on online gaming. The total demand arising from issuance of various Show Cause Notices which are pending presently are upwards on one lakh twenty thousand crore to be adjudicated post the Supreme Court order to be issued for which the Hon’ble Apex court has also commenced hearings.
