PIL against Tax Probe Dismissed

The Chhattisgarh High Court, by its order dated 7 August 2026, dismissed a Public Interest Litigation seeking directions for investigation and recovery of alleged GST and Income Tax evasion by private entities. The Court held that tax investigations are governed by specialised statutory mechanisms and that, in the absence of mala fides or failure to discharge statutory duties, writ jurisdiction cannot be invoked to supervise such enquiries.
