Reassessment Issues Remanded

The Supreme Court has disposed of a batch of appeals concerning the reassessment framework under the Income-tax Act, holding that the constitutional and legal challenges arising from the amendments introduced by the Finance Act, 2026 should be adjudicated by the respective High Courts. 

While refraining from expressing any opinion on the merits, the Court protected taxpayers by staying further reassessment proceedings pending such adjudication and directed the High Courts to decide the matters expeditiously.
