Telangana HC says Reassessment Notice to a Non-Existing Entity Is Unsustainable

Dr. Reddy’s Holdings Limited had merged with Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories with effect from 1 April 2019 under an NCLT-approved scheme. 

Despite being repeatedly informed of the merger, the Department issued the Section 148 notice for AY 2022-23 in the name of the erstwhile company; the High Court quashed the notice while leaving it open to the Department to initiate appropriate proceedings in accordance with law.
